Stolen Car Recovered Using Surveillance Video

REDDING, Calif. -

A car that was stolen from a driveway in Redding on Friday was found, but its appearance had been altered.

The stolen car was a blue 1993 Toyota Corolla – now, the car is white.

The car was stolen from the owner's driveway during the day when the owner's wife was home.

Owner Ron Rodgers has surveillance video of the incident in which you can see one of the suspects getting the door open with no problem. The first suspect then opens the door for the other suspect and drives off.

Rodgers said Redding police told him they used a key meant to open older car models.

"They took the radiator, battery, valve cable alternator – anything that was sellable as scrap – and they took that out,” said Rodgers. "It seems really ridiculous that someone would come steal a car in the middle of the day.”

The car was found on Monday near the Anderson irrigation canal.

If anyone has any information on who the suspects might be they are asked to call Redding Police.
