OROVILLE, Calif. -

Butte County deputies tracked down a suspect in a home invasion robbery in Oroville.  Dean Stuart, 51 of Oroville, was arrested after a short pursuit.  Deputies were also able to link him to a previous robbery in April.

It started Wednesday at 4:25 p.m.   The Butte County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a residence located on the 1300 block of 14th Street in Oroville.  A woman reported a man had knocked on her door and then entered the residence.  The woman described the intruder as a white man, wearing a brown shirt and blue shorts.

Deputies responded to the address and saw the suspect flee from the residence on a bicycle, east from the residence down Euclid Ave near 13th Street.  A perimeter was set up by deputies.  A short time later, the suspect's bicycle, a silver and blue bike with a damaged seat, was located near where the suspect was last seen on Euclid Avenue, along with a backpack.

Deputies then saw a man matching the description walking southbound on 12th Street between Feather Avenue and Biggs Avenue.  When deputies went to contact the suspect, he attempted to run but was apprehended after a brief altercation with deputies.

Stuart was placed under arrest and positively identified by the victim of the burglary as the suspect.

Deputies also noted the similarities to a previous crime reported to the Butte County Sheriff's Office on April 28.  The victims arrived at their home on the 1200 block of Grand Avenue to find a man in the process of burglarizing their home.  The suspect held the victims at gunpoint and continued to rob them.  The suspect fled the home on a silver and blue bicycle with a damaged seat.

Deputies met with the victims from the April 28 incident and they were able to positively identify Stuart as the person who robbed them at gunpoint.

Stuart was taken to a nearby hospital and medically cleared before being booked into the Butte County Jail, Oroville, on charges of 1st degree burglary, robbery, armed in the commission of a felony, and resisting arrest with force or violence.  Stuart was also on parole and a no-bail hold was placed on him.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Matt Calkins at 530-538-7671.
