REDDING, Calif. -

Redding Police said they re-arrested a burglary suspect early Monday, just hours after he was arrested for breaking into a home Sunday night.

Police initially arrested 24-year-old Joshua White, Sunday around 8:15 p.m. for breaking into a home on Olive Avenue.

Police responded to the 1600 block of Olive Avenue.    Kimberly Timpe-Forseth reported she found a man standing in her kitchen holding a pillow case with stolen property inside it.  The suspect fled from the residence when she confronted him.

Police found a man matching the description coming out of an apartment at 1575 Olive Avenue.  Police identified him as Joshua White, and arrested him for the burglary.  Officers recovered some of the stolen items.

White was released on his own recognizance around 2:30 Monday morning.

Less than hour later at 3:21 a.m., police responded to a burglary in the 2000 block of Placer Street.   The victim, Austin Kiser, woke up to the sound of a suspect kicking in the front door to his residence.  He was home with his wife and two small children.  Kiser confronted the intruder inside his living room.  The suspect fled from the residence while officers were responding.

Just down the street they heard another resident, Tim Sykes,  yell someone was trying to break into his home.  Sykes said he confronted a suspect attempting to remove the window screens from his residence and trying to gain access to his house.   The suspect ran off.

K-9 Tarro located the suspect hiding in some bushes in a yard of the 2000 block of Placer Street.    Police said the suspect refused the officers commands and violently resisted arrest.

White was taken into custody with the assistance of K-9 Tarro.  Police confirmed he was the same man suspected in both of the incidents on Placer Street and the earlier burglary on Olive Avenue.

White was arrested for burglary, prowling, attempted burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.  He was transported to Shasta Regional Medical Center for treatment prior to being booked into the Shasta County Jail.
