RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A suspicious envelope found inside the Tehama County Court House Wednesday morning brought out the Shasta County Bomb Squad to investigate.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s office responded along with the Shasta County bomb squad around 7:30 a.m.

They said they found a manila colored envelope which was thought to be suspicious. The envelope was sealed with no markings or postage.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s department cleared the scene due to high radiation from scanning the envelope with x -ray technology. Hours later they determined it contained court documents.

“In the past in other counties there has been suspicious packages that have actually been bombs, that kinda thing and this luckily for all of us turned out to be nothing more than mail,” said Lt. Yvette Borden.

The annex, superior court 3 and jail were not affected.
