A Tehama County man died Friday after he was hit by multiple vehicles on Interstate 5.
The CHP said 64-year-old Jay Allen Ramos of Corning was walking in the median of Interstate 5, south of Corning around 10:40 p.m. Friday night when for unknown reasons he crossed over the northbound lanes.
Ramos was struck by a pickup truck and was knocked forward some 15 feet into the highway's fast lane.
Ramos suffered severe injuries from the impact.
Moments later an SUV approached the area.
Officers said the driver did not see Ramos' body in the road and could not avoid running him over.
Shortly after Ramos had already suffered fatal injuries, Ramos was struck by another car and a semi pulling a tank trailer.
The traffic collision is under investigation.
