Drivers in downtown Chico will need to play close attention to some new one-way streets starting Friday morning.
Overnight crews painted one-way arrows on 1st & 2nd Streets downtown.
The work is part of the couplet project to improve traffic flow.
As of Friday morning, 2nd Street is one-way going eastbound and 1st Street is one-way going westbound.
In the coming days, a new traffic circle will open at 1st, 2nd & Flume Streets.
As of mid-morning Friday, drivers appeared to be making a smooth transition to the traffic changes.
