Turtle Bay Exploration Park's badger, Digger, is set to make his TV debut on the FOX sitcom, "New Girl."
Sharon Clay works as the Curator of Animal Programs at the park.
She said she has been working with Digger since he came to their facility at 5 1/2 months old. Now, at almost 2 years old, he's making his making a claim to fame.
"We got a phone call asking if we had a badger that was friendly and could do a TV show," Clay said.
Clay and another trainer made the trek with Digger to Los Angeles, where filming took place.
"We were at the film site for 15 hours," she said.
Clay could not go into specifics, but said his scenes will be featured on the "New Girl" season finale.
"He's playing Bucky the badger and Bucky the badger is the University of Wisconsin's mascot. He's in the cage facing in the right direction, looking and he's in two scenes," Clay told us.
She said even though Digger just has a small role, they're still very proud of him.
"It's probably going to be like two 20 second spots but he's still in there and we're still proud of him and we're still happy we got to do it."
The park is now encouraging the community to come meet their rising star. "We're excited that digger got to do the program but we want people to come out here and actually meet him," Clay said.
He stars in Turtle Bay's "Walk on the Wild Side Animal Show" and is always on exhibit.
Diggers debut on "New Girl" will air Tuesday, the 14th at 9 p.m. on FOX 20.
Clay said Digger is now their "little star."
