REDDING, Calif. -

Two Redding residents were arrested early Tuesday, after police said they caught them taking items from vehicles in a hotel parking lot on Hilltop Drive.

It happened at 4:18 a.m. when officers were patrolling the parking lots of businesses on Hilltop Drive.

While officers were in the parking lot of the Red Lion hotel Alex James Williams, 25 of Redding and Christina Marie Burke, 25 of Redding were seen in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn, next door. Williams and Burke were seen looking into several vehicles.

Both subjects were contacted and several items of stolen property were located. The investigation revealed one vehicle in the Red Lion parking lot and one vehicle in the Holiday Inn parking lot had items removed from them. Both victims were located and the property was returned.

Williams and Burke were on probation for theft and narcotic related charges.  Burke has numerous recent arrests for the same type of offenses. They were booked into the Shasta County Jail for petty theft, conspiracy to commit theft, prowling and for a probation violation.
