Two suspects arrested after witnesses report man with a knife at Walmart
Two people were arrested in Red Bluff after police said a man was caught stealing from the Red Bluff Walmart store.
Police were called to Walmart at 5:40 p.m. Thursday after a report of a man with a knife taking things from the store. Police spotted the suspect running from the area.
Officers said 23-year-old Christopher Brewer got away in a car driven by 22-year-old Taniesha Coleman. Police said she ignored an officer's orders to stop the vehicle.
The car was pulled over a short time later near the USA gas station on Antelope Boulevard. During a search of the vehicle officers found a small amount of heroin and other drug paraphernalia.
Police said Walmart staff recovered all the property stolen by Brewer as he left the store. Officers later determined Brewer had used his knife to remove merchandise from its packaging and never threatened anybody with it.
The two were arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail on a series of charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession drug paraphernalia, delaying a police investigation and petty theft.
