Butte County deputies arrested an undocumented immigrant who was tending to a marijuana field in Oroville.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Unit arrested Ramiro Sanchez-Pineda on Monday at a large outdoor marijuana garden in the middle of an olive orchard.
Pineda, who is in his mid-40s, had a fake resident alien identification card and a medical marijuana recommendation when he was apprehended.
The garden had four growing areas, a makeshift camp with a kitchen and supply area.
Deputies learned that Pineda had entered the country illegally six months ago and had began tending to the marijuana garden over the past month. Pineda was arrested and booked in the Butte County Jail for marijuana cultivation and possession for sale and a no-bail immigration hold.
