The Daves Fire burning in the Mendocino National Forest in Glenn County is holding at 300 acres and as of Friday morning it's 30 percent contained.
The fire is burning along Skidmore Ridge, west of Orland in the Grindstone Ranger District, approximately 15 miles northwest of Elk Creek along County Road 306.
County Road 55/ Forest Road M4 southwest of Paskenta, including Black Bear Camp, and Forest Road M9 from County Road 313 west to Log Springs are currently closed due to fire traffic in the area. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in effect for the area around the fire.
The fire was first spotted on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials believe it started Monday when more than 6,000 lightning strikes were reported in the Northern California area.
Flames are burning in steep terrain in dense vegetation.
300 people are fighting the blaze.
Smoke from the fire is visible from the Interstate 5 corridor.
The fire is burning in dense brush stands. Steep slopes, limited access, and potential for rollout continue to challenge firefighters.
A Red Flag Warning for high north to northeast winds is in effect from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday.
