Police said someone was firing at something on Tuesday night while he was rolling through Redding. However, officers are not sure where exactly he was shooting.
Redding police said that 26-year-old Cleotis Dotson of Redding was driving a white Mercedes sedan at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
He was pulled over at Court St. and Schley Ave. after allegedly firing off some rounds from a handgun in the area of West St. near Laurel Ave.
Officers say that they found empty shell casings where the shooting happened that match casings found inside the car.
No one was hurt and there was no reported damage.
In fact, police said that people who saw it said that Dotson might have been firing into the air.
"I was upstairs laying in bed, and I heard 'pop pop pop pop pop' -- and it sounded like it was just a couple hundred feet away over here," said George Martikke, who heard the shooting. "I looked out the window and there was about four or five little 18- to 19-year-old kids. They were all just standing out here going 'woop woop woop woop'."
Martikke said it was "spooky."
Police said several witnesses were able to identify Dotson and the vehicle, but they said there was a second person who has not yet been found. Dotson was arrested on several gun-related charges.
