Vegetation Fire Leaves One Man Dead

OROVILLE, Calif. -

A man died Saturday afternoon from injuries suffered in a vegetation fire.

Cal Fire said the fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at 4175 Oro Bangor Highway.   The fire burned about four miles outside the Oroville city limits.

A man was mowing a field about 300 yards behind his home when a vegetation fire was sparked.  The fire burned 1-2 acres before it was contained.  

Six engines, 3 water tenders and a dozer were dispatched to fight the fire and protect homes on Circle Drive.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
