ANDERSON, Calif. -

A man and woman were arrested early Monday after a vehicle stop turned into a foot pursuit.

It happened just after midnight.

Anderson police say an officer tried to stop a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane on Alexander Avenue and Little Street, but the driver failed to yield.

The vehicle continued onto Automall Drive before stopping.

When it did, police say Adam Foster, 28, of Redding,  fled on foot east across the northbound and southbound lanes of I-5 into a wooded area east of I-5 near Donald Lane.

Other Anderson Police Officers arrived in the area to conduct a ground search for Foster, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter was called in to assist.

Calls were also made to notify people in the area of what was happening.

Just before 1 a.m., police say they located Foster hiding in an area east of Donald Lane, and south of Riverside Avenue.

He was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and for delaying an officer.

Additionally, Eugena Stark, 34, of Redding, who was also in the vehicle, was cited and released on four misdemeanor warrants.
