It appears Cottonwood firefighters will not be getting a new fire station. Voters rejected a bond issue to pay for it.
Measure A on Tuesday's ballot required two-thirds majority approval to pass. Numbers from the Shasta County Clerk's office showed 513 voted yes, (59.3 percent) short of the 66.6 percent approval needed. There were 352 votes against the bond measure.
Measure A would have authorized the sale of up to four million dollars in bonds for a new Cottonwood fire station.
