A wanted fugitive is behind bars, after he was arrested at a busy Red Bluff intersection.
A sharp-eyed CHP officer spotted the suspect's vehicle on Interstate 5 Wednesday afternoon and made the arrest. Michael Ray Robertson, 54, was arrested on a federal warrant for child pornography.
The CHP said Officer Andrew VanVeen recognized Robertson's vehicle from a wanted poster. Robertson was known to drive an orange Honda Element. VanVeen was in the area conducting traffic control after power lines fell across Interstate 5 90 minutes earlier.
Robertson was a passenger in the Honda Element which was being driven by his wife on Interstate 5 in Red Bluff around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The vehicle exited Antelope Boulevard and traveled east to Sale Lane, stopping in the left turn lane.
Officer VanDeen coordinated with other CHP units, Red Bluff Police Department and Tehama County Sheriff's Office to conduct a felony traffic stop.
The intersection was shut down temporarily. Officers on loud speakers ordered Robertson out of the vehicle, and he was taken into custody.
The CHP said U.S. District Court issued an indictment on March 21st for child pornography. Robertson will face charges in federal court.
