As 2013 comes to an end it will go down as the driest year in 119 years of record keeping for California precipitation. The rest of 2013 will continue to be warm and dry, with no rain through New Year’s Day and beyond.
As we head into the New Year, it looks like, at least for the first few days, it will still be warm and dry during the day with chilly mornings and frost likely.
Models beyond that are now hinting at a pattern change for the end of next week! Next weekend now looks cloudy and cooler with chance of very light rain and snow showers in the northern mountains and a slight chance in the valley by Sunday. This is still too far out to be precise, but at least there are indications that the persistent high pressure ridge could be moving on in about one week.
