Final Round of Rain to Fall Today, Sunshine Returns Monday
More light to moderate rain will fall throughout the day today.
The final burst of energy for this system will move through northern California today bringing more rain to everyone. This system could produce an additional 1-2” of rain for favored areas in the mountains and about .5-1” of rain in the valley. As the system pulls out we’ll finally see an end to the rain and the gray skies and Monday is looking like a pretty nice day. Everything will still be damp but the subtropical airmass that brought us the rain will allow temperatures to warm quickly into the low to mid 60s.
Tuesday our next system makes itself heard as the high level clouds move in keeping Tuesday more gray than anything. There won’t be any rain just yet, but that will come on Wednesday as another atmospheric river sets up to soak the NorthState for round two. The exact location for the main batch of moisture is still getting worked out, but it will mainly be Chico and northward. This time it appears that Redding will be the wettest part of the valley with a whole mess of rain falling in the mountains north and west of the city.
