Gusty Winds Diminish and Clear Skies Remain

Published On: Apr 18 2014 07:59:17 AM CDT

Winds decrease today, temperatures remain pretty even this weekend.

The gusty winds overnight will remain into the early afternoon today but will slowly diminish towards evening.  Saturday, winds will remain generally calm in the valley making this weekend an absolute gem.  Sunshine will make the weather pretty pleasant and allow temperatures to remain warm.  Highs will stay around 80° through Easter Sunday and the skies will stay generally clear and sunny.

The biggest changes will hold off until Monday morning when an upper level low will move into the NorthState.  That low will bring more clouds our way and the threat for some showers Monday evening.  In addition to the clouds, cold air aloft will open the door up for thunderstorms on Tuesday as the axis of the trough passes overhead between 10am and 2pm.  Initial models are hinting at the possibility of some rotation in these storms but turning doesn’t look particularly intense winds are generally out of the SW both on the ground and at 850mb (about 4,000 ft above the ground).  Right now the biggest threat looks to be hail, so be aware especially if you’re breaking out your car for Kool April Nites.
