Impending Low Drops Temps, Increases Cloud Cover
Mostly sunny, but with cooler temperatures.
We’ll see some clouds move through the area today. Most are getting trapped in the mountains to our west, but some will eventually make it through the blockade that is the coast range and into the valley. That’s not to say that the weather won’t be very nice in the valley, we’ll still have temperatures in the mid 70s throughout the afternoon but highs will be nearer to our seasonal norm than 5-10° above average like we’ve seen the past several days.
Monday the upper level low pushes onshore and will bring a vorticity max directly overhead. That could fire off some thunderstorms, but the peak lift isn’t associated with the peak heating of the day so that should squelch the vast majority of it. If any do form it is unlikely for any to get any induced rotation as winds are largely westerly from the surface to 850mb. There could be some hail involved, but that’s about as extreme as these storms will get.
The rest of the week is essentially a process of clearing the skies out and warming up. Temperatures will return to the low 80s by Thursday and will be back into the mid to upper 80s by Friday.
