Weather Forecast: Near 70 Today, Rain On The Way
The Northstate will continue to see mostly sunny skies today with valley highs near 70 degrees. Clouds begin to roll in Tuesday, followed by rain on Wednesday.
Our west coast ridge is still in place, but is getting steadily pushed out by the incoming storms. Those systems will slowly and steadily push our high to the east opening the door for some more rain. But before that gets here, we’ll be nice and warm with slightly increasing clouds. Tomorrow looks clear but Tuesday will increase the clouds to a mix of sun and clouds. The rain holds off until Wednesday morning.
When it does get here models are indicating the heaviest rain will fall in the afternoon into the overnight hours of Wednesday/Thursday. We can expect about ½ an inch of rain from the first system with more rain possible in the mountains surrounding the valley. We get a break on Thursday, before the stronger storm rolls in for Friday into Saturday. That system will bring up to 3 inches of rain for the valley, although it is looking like the bulk of the moisture will be heading south towards the San Joaquin Valley, if that continues, we’ll see lower rain totals. We’ll keep a close eye on things and let you know as things change.
