Weather Forecast: Near or Above Record Highs Again Today
Updated On: Jan 15 2014 09:19:04 AM CST
The ridge of high pressure will likely be at its peak today, allowing the valley to warm to the mid to upper 70s.
Many valley locations including Chico, Red Bluff and Redding have a good chance of tying or breaking record highs.
The Medford-Sacramento surface pressure gradient remains around ~9mb so we'll continue to see breezy to gusty north winds. Dew points and relative humidity values continue to drop with prolonged winds and mixing. Relative humidity values could fall to the low teens and close to single digits this afternoon.
Highs will remain 15-20 degrees above normal through Friday, with slightly cooler conditions by this weekend. The cold front, responsible for this slight cool down, will only brings highs clouds and no precipitation.
It is looking more and more likely that January will go down as the driest January on record for California, meaning the historic drought continues and strengthens.
