Weather Forecast: Showers And Thunderstorms This Evening
Updated On: Apr 25 2014 12:35:29 AM CDT
It was a fairly active afternoon on Thursday with showers and thunderstorms in the Northstate. Some areas experienced periods of heavy rain, small hail, gusty winds and lightning. It eventually quieted down shortly after sunset and we were left with isolated showers overnight.
The main storm is still in the Pacific but is expected to be over the Northstate on Friday. This is when we expect more widespread showers and thunderstorms with periods of heavy rain, hail, gusty winds and lightning.
With the colder air comes lower snow levels dropping to as low as 4500 feet. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the mountains east of the valley until 5:00 Saturday morning. This will have an impact on your mountain travel so be sure to take the necessary precautions.
The weekend will remain unsettled with partly to mostly cloudy skies but should remain fairly dry with the best chance for light showers/sprinkles on Sunday.
High pressure will return next week with temperatures back in the 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
