WILLOWS, Calif. -

The Glenn County Sheriff Office is investigating the attempted murder of a man was allegedly found beaten and stabbed at his home in Willows overnight Monday.

55-year-old John Arano was found by a neighbor in his home on North Colusa Street at about 11 a.m. Tuesday lying in a pool of his own blood.

Stabbed "multiple" times, Arano remained conscious hours after the attack.

He was flown to Enloe Medical Center for surgery, where Arano told a deputy he was attacked last night by two men.

Investigators say robbery doesn't appear to be a motive, but they're still missing a lot of details.

"We haven't had an opportunity to get a lot of details from our victim to find out whether or not the doors were locked, the doors were open, whether there was something out of place, whether there was something out of the ordinary, whether there are things missing from the house," says Glenn County Undersheriff Rich Warren. "We just don't know that at this time."

The tires on Arano's vehicle in his front yard were also slashed, likely by his assailants.

A neighbor who has known him for years tells KRCR that Arano is a nice guy and that he finds it hard to believe an attack on him would be random.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.
