REDDING, Calif. -

An early morning pursuit in Redding ended in a crash at the north end of Bechelli Lane.  The driver, 21-year-old Misty Pacheco, was arrested for failing to yield to an officer.

It started around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.  Redding Police said they tried to pull over Pacheco at Pine and South Streets for driving without headlights.

Police said Pacheco did not yield to the police car that had its lights and sirens activated.  She drove another 2-3 miles before her SUV plunged 60 feet down an embankment at the north end of Bechelli Lane where it dead ends at East Turtle Bay.

Police said Pacheco was not driving under the influence, was not wanted for a crime and was not driving a stolen vehicle, which are usually the reasons people don't pull over for police.  A dog inside the vehicle was not hurt.
