An elderly husband and wife were both killed after a house fire in Willows late Thursday night.
The 77-year-old husband, Luis Ceja initially escaped the burning home after trying to save his wife, 77-year-old wife Rafaela Bustos, and was taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center where he died.
Police and deputies were called to the 400 block of Vine Street Thursday at 11:46 p.m.
Officers and deputies tried to find Bustos inside the burning home but failed to locate her.
Firefighters arrived, entered the home and located the woman. Medics were unable to resuscitate her and she was declared dead at the scene.
The Glenn County Arson Task Force was called to the scene and the incident is under investigation. Investigators said evidence seems to indicate the fire may have started due to an electrical problem, but the cause has not been confirmed.
